CeraVe products: moisturizing cream and hydrating cleanser review
I’ve heard about CeraVe products for a long time, but I’ve never tried them. I didn’t have very high expectations, I just wanted something moisturizing that wouldn’t clog my pores. Researching on the internet, I saw that CeraVe’s products were non-comedogenic. What exactly does that mean? Their formula is designed so as not to clog pores. As these products are especially recommended for people with combination or oily skin, I decided to give them a try.
I chose the hydrating cleanser, the one in green packaging, and the moisturizing cream from CeraVe, in blue packaging. The gel is intended for normal and dry skin, and the cream is for dry and very dry skin. I opted for these formulas because my skin feels the need for intense hydration lately.
What do we know CeraVe?
The CeraVe dermatologists developed in 2005 for the first time a range of skincare products based on skin-like ceramides and MVE technology to restore the natural skin barrier and provide long-lasting hydration even after a single-use.
What are ceramides?
Ceramides make up 50% of the skin’s lipid layer and form a natural barrier over it. The lipid layer is produced in the form of lamellae and is composed of: ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids.
What is MVE technology?
Multivessional Emulsion Technology (MVE) is a patented multiphase oil-in-water emulsion system that consists of a series of concentric spheres of oil and water arranged in several layers. Instantly with a moisturizing effect such as hyaluronic acid, they begin to moisturize the skin. So ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids are gradually released ingredients to help protect and restore the skin’s barrier function, and through MVE technology CeraVe products provide hydration throughout the day.
CeraVe moisturizing cream for dry and very dry skin
I will talk more about the cream because that was why I tried Cerave products in the first place. When I saw that it is intended for dry and very dry skin, I expected it to leave a slightly oily feeling on the skin. After the first application of the Cerave cream, I was surprised that it was not visible at all on the surface of the skin. The formula is so light that it doesn’t even feel on the skin.
I applied it in both a thinner and a more generous layer, but my skin still didn’t feel loaded. The feeling of hydration, however, is intense, and the product immediately enters the skin. I no longer have dry, dehydrated parts, and my face looks very good. I even noticed that the foundation settles better since I use this cream. Given how well my oily skin blends with it, I say it’s suitable for any skin type.
About the formula
The product formula is very light, contains three ceramides and hyaluronic acid. Moreover, the main ingredient is water, which is why the product is so easily absorbed. The fact that it has no perfume is a plus for me because it does not irritate me. I don’t have sensitive skin, but I prefer the simplest formulas for the skin.
Product application
After cleansing, apply a toner, then salicylic acid, or niacinamide, if necessary. In the end, apply the eye cream that is vital for me because my skin is pretty dry under my eyes and last the face cream.
In the last two weeks, I also introduced a booster for hydration in the cream. I didn’t necessarily need to, but I was curious if there were any differences. Mix in the palm of your hand a drop of booster in the usual amount of cream and apply it normally. The only thing I do in addition is to lightly massage my face, for extra firmness. For this combination, it’s too early to form an opinion, but the cream has fully satisfied me so far.
This is my experience so far with Cerave moisturizer. It’s a product I get along with, which does exactly what it promises and has a clean formula. I have to admit that this influenced me to try it because I am more attentive to the ingredients of the products I use. The quality-price ratio also seems very good to me, that’s why I would always buy the product again.

Hydrating cleanser for normal to dry skin
After daily use of this product in the morning and evening, my skin radiates now.
Since I turned 35, I have been more and more careful about what I apply to my skin. I like what my skin looks like now, it’s not irritated, and my skin is well hydrated.
Don’t forget that any skin, even oily skin needs hydration, but the key is the correct daily make-up removal and of course the cream with SPF all year round no matter where you are, specifically that SPF is applied in winter as well.
From my point of view I can only praise it, my skin got along extraordinarily well with this gel and I can even say that it deserves all the appreciation.
Strong points:
- does not contain perfume and soap
- it is hypoallergenic
- I love the packaging, it is very compact and easy to transport
- the dosage method is very hygienic and offers sufficient quantity according to all skin types, from the one with problems to a normal one does not create any kind of adverse reaction
- even if it is a moisturizing gel, it removes impurities, dust, and even make-up very well
- do not irritate the eyes, if you are not careful and accidentally hit the eye area
- cleanses deeply without aggressing the skin and without giving the feeling of dryness as some products tend to do
- removes excess sebum very well
Weak points:
- I find it a bit difficult to remove when cleaning it, in the sense that I have to rinse a lot to remove it
- it doesn’t foam, which can be a little misleading. That’s until you get used to it.
