My list of best note-taking apps

Whatever you have a moment of inspiration, or simply you just don’t want to forget to buy bread on your way home an app that offers this solution is a must-have. I have to admit that note-taking apps are plenty on Google Play but I only chose a few that I found more interesting.

Evernote – may be the most popular application of its kind. You can make notes on desktop, mobile (Android, iOS, Windows Phone) or directly from a browser and access them from all your devices connected to Evernote. You can also send a note to your friends, whether it’s a text, image, or a to-do list.

Evernote gives you the tools you need to keep your work effortlessly organized:
• Write, collect and capture ideas as searchable notes, notebooks, checklists, and to-do lists
• Take notes in a variety of formats, including text, sketches, photos, audio, video, PDFs, web clippings and more
• Use camera capture to easily scan and comment on pieces of paper, including printed documents, business cards, handwriting, and sketches
• Attach Microsoft Office docs, PDFs and photos
• Organize your receipts, bills, and invoices
• Use Evernote as a digital notepad and easy-to-format word processor for all your thoughts as they come

The application limitations would be upload, that is, in the free version, we can upload only 60 MB per month.

The premium version of this app contains:
• 10 GB of new uploads each month
• Unlimited number of devices
• Access your notes and notebooks offline
• Save emails to Evernote
• Search inside Office docs and attachments
• Annotate PDFs
• Scan and digitize business cards
• Show notes as presentations, instantly

So all of our notes do not exceed 60 MB per month. I recommend this app for Android.

OneNote – do you scribble great ideas on napkins and sticky notes? Is precise filing more your style? OneNote’s got you covered whatever way you shape your thoughts. Type, write, or draw with the free-form feel of pen to paper. Search and clip from the web to picture ideas.

Your team is conquering the idea of the century. Your family is planning the menu for a big reunion. Stay on the same page and in sync wherever you are.

Take note. It’s easy to pull up your content from anywhere, even if you’re offline. Start on your laptop then update notes on your phone. OneNote works on any device or platform.

The advantage is that all will be saved in OneDrive, so space limitations are more generous.

Google Keep – Google also came up with an app but in my opinion, a bit too late when people were accustomed to something else but this doesn’t make it less good than the previous ones I’ve mentioned in this article. It’s available for Android, iOS, Chrome and online through any browser. You can also make text, audio, text, or handwritten notes, which you can share with your friends. You can also dictate notes that Keep will transpose into the text. Its features include:

• Create notes and lists, set time and place reminders, and check off your completed tasks.
• Add a collaborator to your notes and lists, then get things done together.
• Add photos and drawings, or just draw on your photos.
• Dictate your thoughts, Keep will transcribe them for you.
• Search notes by automagically created topics.
• Group notes together with #labels.
• Color notes for easy scanability.
• Access your notes on any device. synced automatically to your phone, tablet, watch, and laptop via the Google Keep website, or Chrome app.
• Use “Ok Google” voice commands to “take a note” or “add to to-do list”.

ColorNoteis the most downloaded note-taking app by users on Android. It’s a totally free and very simple application that allows us to take and organize our notes and lists, assign a color to our note, protect it with a password so that nobody can see its contents, and have all the notes synchronized. One downside to this application is that unfortunately, we can only create text notes, and so far doesn’t allow us to attach images.

In addition to the colors of the notes, it allows displaying the notes in various formats, list mode, grid mode. Define the heights of the elements in the lists and the size of the source, which improves its accessibility.

Sort the notes by colors, alphabetically, by creation date, modification date or by alarms.

There are three themes, by default, one slightly softer and one dark.

Another worth mentioning app is showNote. It’s rather new but it comes with a different approach that I personally haven’t seen so far in any app.
The main purpose of this app is not to store notes, but to create a way to easily hand the note as a piece of paper.

When showing the note screen position will be locked on either Landscape or portrait, furthermore, the screen can be set to not turn off, check all of this on the settings page.

Ideal scenarios of use: you want to remain silent, you want to be discreet, you can’t talk, you are too lazy to say a long bank account number, you are surrounded by people who don’t hear well.

It has a simple design which I absolutely love because sometimes it doesn’t need to have a lot of unnecessary features. It also is intuitive and those using the app for the first time have no trouble navigating the different options.

More features are about to be implemented but for now, you can easily choose your note’s text size, and also if you prefer landscape mode or portrait, two features for me that are very important.

I definitely recommend you give it a chance and maybe suggest new features you would like to be added in the future.

In the end, choosing the app in which you save your notes is a matter of taste. They all have in main the same options, but the decision will take you according to what you need, which seems to look better and why you prefer the company. So, tell me, what do you choose?
