First of all, free themes are well, FREE. You can simply download the theme you want and start using it.

Premium themes can be expensive, and if you buy a theme and later decide you don’t want it, or discover that it doesn’t work well with plugins you need, it can be quite challenging to get your money back.

Also, why hire a designer and developer to create a site for you when you can simply download one for free, especially if you are just starting?

Yes, it requires a lot of work at first, and you might feel overwhelmed, but today there are lots of sites and youtube tutorials just ready to help you organise and launch your blog.

2. Evolve

Evolve is a multi-purpose WordPress theme that has recently been redesigned as a fully responsive theme for all devices. It features 2 Header Layouts, a slick Bootstrap and Parallax slider with up to 5 slides on any page and a post slider for ten posts per post category. There are several different slider and animated effects to move captions and images into position and then back out of frame again. Button and arrow navigation elements are shown on each slider, or slides can be automatically cycled through. Bootstrap construction makes it easy to change designs around because the theme is built on a grid-like system. Modify anything with the design, such as the logo, header, background, primary colours used, and more. The FontAwesome icon pack provides Retina Ready icons that look terrific on an iPad or other HD device and at any resolution. Animate.css elements are included for slick CSS interactive effects which can be included on many different pages to create engaging animations. Infinite Scroll gives a single loading of the blog posts.
